Future Earth vacancy: Project Coordinator (Montreal, Canada)

Supervisor : Future Earth Executive Director, working with the Montreal Hub Manager

Role and responsibilities
We are looking for a Project Coordinator who can support the overall coordination of the various phases of the project, with a focus on the in-person workshop and including research support. He/she would also ideally  be well-versed in the sustainability and digital field to help build a global community at this intersection. The Project Coordinator will liaise with participants pre and post-workshop, and is expected to ensure the smooth execution of items related to workshop venue, logistics and media relations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of master’s degree (or equivalent) related to sustainability (e.g. systems science, environmental policy, etc.) or technology (e.g. AI, technology and society, etc.);
  • Ideally two years of work experience in any of the above fields;
  • Experience in management, coordination and/or events and logistics planning;
  • Experience with fundraising and/or social media is an asset;
  • Full command of written and spoken English; working knowledge of French;
  • Superior organizational and interpersonal skills, comfortable in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to work autonomously, and to multitask (i.e. plan and coordinate multiple processes) within established deadlines and parameters;
  • Sound judgment, tactful and sensitive to diverse cultures and constituents;
  • Good relationship management skills;
  • Availability to work outside normal working hours;
  • Availability to travel internationally.

Conditions
This is a full-time, nine-month placement, with the possibility of extension up to one year. We offer an extended health benefits package. The candidate must be eligible for the Mitacs Career Connect Program. This program requires that applicants be:

  • Younger than 30 years old at the start of the placement
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada (no work permits or student visas)
  • Not receiving employment insurance benefits during the placement
  • Not a previous participant in a Career Focus Internship of the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy
