At the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, Future Earth Executive Director Amy Luers spoke as lead discussant at the Official Programme "Review of SDGs implementation: SDG 12 – Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns” on July 12, 2018.

Future Earth calls for the adoption of a system transformation toward sufficiency as a step forward in sustainable consumption and production at the review of SDG 12. The discussion was part of the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development held July 9-18, 2018, in New York City, USA. Future Earth’s Executive Director, Amy Luers, started by highlighting two key challenges to transition to the sustainable consumption-production systems. Luers delivered further recommendations, which included ways to drive the systems change and advocated for the establishment of concrete targets on greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental objectives. This Future Earth presentation was based on the work of the Future Earth Systems of Sustainable Consumption and Production Knowledge-Action Network.
