Date: September 29, 2016

The Belmont Forum and the Joint Programming Initiative (JPI) Urban Europe are inviting professionals from a range of fields to join an upcoming webinar about research on the Food-Water-Energy Nexus and sustainable cities. The webinar will focus on an upcoming call for transdisciplinary research, or Collaborative Research Action (CRA), from JPI Urban Europe and the Belmont Forum – a collection of “the world's major and emerging funders of global environmental change research.” The webinar will air on 5 October at 11:00 EDT (17:00 CEST) and will last about two hours.

The webinar will provide information about this funding call to interested applicants. It is open to researchers, municipal government officials, urban specialists and more.

The Belmont Forum and JPI Urban Europe will release their new call for research, titled the “Urban Global Initiative/Food-Water-Energy Nexus,” in December 2016. It seeks to draw on a wide variety of knowledge to build solutions to challenges facing cities and the Nexus.

From the announcement:

The call aims to develop more resilient, applied urban solutions that bring inter- and trans-disciplinary research and innovation together from across the globe, to benefit a much wider range of stakeholders. The rapid urbanization of the world’s population underscores the importance of this focus. JPI Urban Europe and Belmont Forum have partnered to ensure a maximum audience across physical, natural, and social sciences as well as policy and decision makers and stakeholders.
