Meghan O'Connell

With a bachelor's degree in zoology from McGill University and a master's degree in environmental management from Kyoto University, Meghan has worked in the field of biodiversity conservation and education in both Canada and Japan. Her previous experience includes environmental monitoring work with the Ministry of Environment in Shiretoko National Park, Hokkaido Japan, as well as public outreach with the David Suzuki Foundation, a Canadian NGO whose vision is to create a sustainable environment through science based research, education and policy work. Meghan has also been involved with various environmental education projects in Vancouver, Canada. In 2012, Meghan attended the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity as a member of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network. She worked with other young people to draft interventions, organize and participate in press conferences and side events, all regarding the importance of biodiversity conservation from a youth's standpoint.
