Knowledge-Action Network on Systems of Sustainable Consumption and Production

Future Earth is establishing Knowledge-Action Networks and one of them addresses the Systems of Sustainable Consumption and Production.

Knowledge-Action Networks are collaborative frameworks that facilitate highly integrative sustainability research. Their aim is to generate the multifaceted knowledge needed to inform solutions for complex societal issues. The main function of  Knowledge-Action Networks is to generate high-quality actionable scientific knowledge through the integration of research and the involvement of societal partners, following the Engagement Guidelines of Future Earth.

The Future Earth Systems of Sustainable Consumption and Production (SSCP) Knowledge-Action Network emphasises the need to address whole provisioning systems, including consumption practices and production conditions, as well as life-cycle impacts and the economic, political, social and cultural imperatives that impel consumerist lifestyles. To promote a more systemic approach to SCP and to enable a transformation in theory and practice, the Knowledge-Action Network aims to strengthen collaboration between communities of researchers and practitioners that are currently focused on either production or consumption, including actors, decision makers and other stakeholders.

The SSCP Knowledge-Action Network is supported by the Regional Centre for Future Earth in Asia. More information can be found on the Future Earth global website.
